What Dermal Fillers Can Do For You

Dermal fillers are one of our most popular cosmetic treatments.

Our Sydney patients can address a range of concerns without ever needing to go under the knife. Dermal fillers are also known as ‘cosmetic skin injectables’ and can visibly reduce the effects of ageing by restoring volume and minimising the appearance of wrinkles.

We also offer dermal or collagen stimulator fillers that are utilised in the volumising and contouring of the face. Wondering how to treat acne scars? Dermal fillers can correct scarring caused by acne, trauma and surgery. In recent times there have been a raft of new fillers that have been approved and this gives us a range of increasingly effective treatment solutions to offer our patients. Whether you want to address wrinkles, creases, depressed scars or simply want to add volume to your lips, our team of skilled professionals will guide you towards the type of filler that will best suit your unique needs.

What to Expect from Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers can help to add volume in the:

  • Forehead
  • Temples
  • Eyebrows
  • Cheeks
  • Lower eyelids
  • Lips
  • Peri-oral creases,
  • The jowls
  • Chin

Almost every area of your face can be treated with dermal fillers. At ADA Aesthetic Medical we recommend the use of naturally occurring polysaccharide-based gels. These gels are the most popular of all our dermal fillers and are also the safest. These sugar-based injectables have almost no long-term risks and are able to create an organic, natural appearance with minimal pain or recovery needed.

Dermal fillers can last as long as 12 months and, in some cases, even longer depending on your metabolism and the area you wish to treat. Another great facet of these sugar-based injectables is that they can be totally reversed if you’re not satisfied with the results for whatever reason.

All our procedures are performed in-office as you won’t need any anaesthetic, just a topical numbing cream numb the area. You will be treated by experienced doctors not ‘cosmetic injectors’ or nurses and there will be one present to tend to all of your needs. The recovery time after the procedure is minimal and you should be back to work the next day.

Are There Any Side Effects to Dermal Fillers?

As with any cosmetic procedure, dermal fillers can have slight side effects that will differ from one patient to another. It is possible that you may experience some small bruising or swelling which is totally normal and should subside in three to four days. Should you have more pronounced bruising, we can provide laser bruise treatment which will clear it up in 24 hours. There is also a slight chance of delayed swelling and some redness.

It is also very rare that patients have allergic reactions to our dermal fillers, and the gel used in our dermal fillers can be reversed without much complication.

Also rare is the filler injection blocking an artery. This could lead to pain, red/blue rash and later skin ulceration. This can be reversed with hylase injection.  There have also been very rare reports of visual loss at time of injection.  Our doctors will discuss any relevant risks.

When deciding which is the best dermal filler for you, you will consult with our experienced doctors and undergo a thorough examination of your skin in order to choose the treatment that suits you best. To make an appointment or to find out more about our dermal fillers, please click here.
