Vascular Lasers & IPL Treatment Sydney
What can vascular lasers / IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treat?
- Broken red capillaries (taelangiectasia)
- Red rosacea
- Red birthmarks (portwine stains)
- Red sun-damaged upper neck and chest (décolletage)
- Small blue surface veins
How do vascular lasers work?
These specialised lasers can specifically target and coagulate the blood vessels in the skin because of the unique light wavelength they develop. Because of the specific targeting of blood vessels the surrounding tissue is relatively undamaged.
Do all vascular lasers / IPLs have the same effect?
There are different types of blood vessel problems and not all vascular lasers/IPL will work the same. For example, some lasers are more suited to treating very fine deep blood vessels but won’t treat larger veins. At Áda clinic we keep 4 different vascular lasers/IPL because that will allow us to treat a wide variety of different vascular problems. The type of laser/ IPL that will be used will depend on the colour, depth, size of the blood vessels and your skin type.
Is there any down time after treatment?
Treatment of small areas is quick and relatively painless with redness and slight tissue swelling lasting just a few hours for most patients. However, when larger areas are treated, around 7 days recovery time may be required for swelling and any light crusts to heal.
How many treatments are usually needed?
Many small skin blemishes may only need one treatment. Larger areas and deeper vein removal generally need repeat treatments to get the best result. Individual response will vary so exact predictions on the number of treatments may be difficult.
How much will treatment cost?
The price for laser treatment will vary depending on the type of laser needed, size of the area and time needed. Our doctors will give you a price quote after assessing your skin.
Will Medicare cover the costs?
There are only a few conditions that qualify under Medicare for rebate. Our doctors will inform you if you will be able to claim something back from Medicare.
Who will do my laser / IPL treatments?
At Áda our experienced laser doctors do all consultations, treatment planning and all laser/IPL treatments. No ‘laser technicians’ or nurses are used at any Áda clinic.
