Scar Removal Sydney NSW

At Áda clinic we have been treating scars for over 25 years.

At Áda we specialise in non-surgical procedures to improve scars. Predominantly various laser procedures have been the main treatments for successful minimisation of many scars. However, other non-surgical treatments we may use include dermal fillers, micro-needling and fractional RF (radio frequency).

What sort of scars can laser be used on?

Lasers can be used to improve many types of scars which are red, pigmented, uneven, hypertrophic or keloid. Including acne scars and even stretchmarks.

What sort of lasers does Áda use on scars?

There are several different lasers that may be used to treat scars. The choice depends on many factors, which our doctors will assess.

At Áda, there are several different specialised lasers available to treat different types of scars:

  • Red scars- vascular lasers like the KTP laser, YAG laser and BBL
  • Pigmented scars – pigment laser such as Ruby or YAG
  • Old, uneven pale scars – fractional resurfacing lasers
  • Stretchmarks – fractional lasers

Will scars be completely removed?

There is no treatment that can completely remove and restore normal skin in an established scar. However treatments can achieve significant improvement in the appearance of scars so that they blend in better with adjacent normal skin. Laser treatment can worsen the appearance of scars. This risk can be minimised by careful assessment of the skin and type of scarring and by selecting appropriate laser treatment. Consulting with an experienced laser physician is important.

How many treatments will I need?

Repeat treatments sessions are usually required to achieve optimal results, as individual responses will vary.

Can scars be improved with dermal fillers?

Injectable dermal fillers, including some permanent ones, can also be used to improve certain types of scars or acne scarring. These treatments can achieve dramatic improvements in depressed scars such as those commonly caused by acne, especially when combined with subcision.

What about micro-needling (Dermastamp) and Platelet Rich Plasma?

Micro-needling combined with PRP is another recent treatment option for scars and stretchmarks where other treatments may not be suitable or have not achieved optimal results. Not all scars are suitable for this treatment. Early case studies suggest this treatment has potential to improve certain scars such as hypopigmentation.
