Get Rid of an Unwanted Tattoo

With complete removal or significant fading in tattoo ink colours without any scarring in over 95% of cases, laser tattoo removal at Áda is a great choice. Our doctor-only clinic ensures that only tattoo removal specialists will perform your treatment, giving you peace of mind that you are in safe hands.

How does laser tattoo removal work?

The pulse light from our laser system is absorbed by the ink particles in the skin, which then shatter into smaller particles. Once the tattoo ink particles have been broken down, it is actually your own body (immune cells) that will absorb those minuscule particles. Once in the body, your system will naturally eliminate the ink particles from your body via your lymphatic system.

Is laser tattoo removal painful?

Realistically, the discomfort of having a tattoo removed depends on the individual’s pain tolerance and the size of the tattoo. Smaller tattoos sometimes do not require any local anesthetic, although most require some form of topical or local anesthetic so that a higher intensity of the laser can be used to achieve faster and better results.

If you wish to use lower energy settings, it’s important to note that not as much ink will be removed with each session, meaning you are likely to need additional treatment sessions. Our doctors at Áda will be able to advise you on the best course of action for your specific tattoo removal needs.

How many sessions to remove a tattoo?

As mentioned above, tattoo removal is very dependent on each individual case. The type and intensity of the laser used, the size of the tattoo, your skin type, scarring from your tattooing, and even the colour of the ink all have significant effects on how much time it takes to remove a tattoo successfully.

Different tattoo colours react differently to laser treatment, with black being the most responsive and therefore the easiest to remove. Blue and green ink colours are generally considered to be the most difficult to remove and other colours can be very unpredictable in terms of how many treatments they will require to be broken down successfully.

A small, amateur black tattoo might only require two to six sessions, whereas a larger professional piece with many colours can take six to twelve treatments or more.

How much does laser tattoo removal cost?

With each individual case being so varied in terms of how many treatments will be required, prices can vary drastically too. Side Effects to Laser Tattoo Removal

As with any laser treatment, there are of course some expected yet minimal side effects. You might find that areas with treated tattoos can become red and tender, with swelling and potentially bruising of the skin surface. These side effects can be managed easily with anti-inflammatory drugs and will usually dissipate within a day or two.

The removed tattoos and the surrounding skin can also become quite dry after laser treatment – you can treat this effectively with a rich ph neutral moisturiser.

Scarring is another potential side effect of laser tattoo removal however here at Áda in Sydney, we only use a Q-switched laser which should not create scarring at all.

Our doctors at Áda will advise you of all potential side effects and what to do in each case.
