Does micro needling under the eyes help?

Micro-needling is the process of creating micro-tears in the skin to stimulate collagen production.

Micro-needling, is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure using hair-thin needles to cause superficial punctures in your skin. This prompts a healing process that corrects inconsistencies in the skin. Through the healing process, collagen and elastin is produced, this has an anti-ageing effect on the skin.

The length of the needle can often determine the type of results that can be evident after the treatment. Though needle lengths can vary, discomfort and initial damage to the skin is usually minimal.

Micro-needling under the eyes

Many people wonder if micro needling is safe under the eyes as this skin in particularly thin and sensitive. It is in fact safe to undergo the micro needling treatment in this area. In fact, micro needling can improve various concerns within this area such as puffiness, dark circles and wrinkles. It can brighten the under-eye area and improve the appearance of fine lines. In essence, utilising the micro-needling treatment under the eye area can have many rejuvenating and anti-ageing benefits.

You may experience some level of discomfort during the procedure, however this will depend greatly on the length of the micro-needling.

One of the major benefits of micro needling is that it does not utilise any chemicals and therefore, is less likely to cause any irritation or reaction.

Micro-needling under the eyes can yield results within a few weeks and these results will improve over time as the body’s healing process begins to kick in.

The tiny pricking channels will close after about an hour after your treatment and since micro needling is done under clinical conditions, the chances of infection are incredibly low. However, it is important that you ensure your treatment if being performed by a certified and trained professional.

Directly after your treatment, you may notice some redness and a little bit of bleeding in the area that was exposed to the micro needles. This is completely normal and will subside within 72 hours. Minimal post-treatment swelling is also normal and will subside in a few hours. You are able to use a cold compress for relief from any post-treatment symptoms.

Your treatment plan should include between three to six treatments; however, this may vary depending on the severity of your under-eye concerns. Your practitioner will usually recommend starting off with three treatments and discussing any further treatment once this set of three has bee completed. Regardless of the amount of treatment you have booked, they should be evenly spaced out with an interval of between four to six weeks between each session.

This treatment can often bring some fantastic results, however you need to remember: patience is a virtue! With a little bit of patience, we are sure that you will be pleased with your results! Visit the team at Ada Aesthetic Medicine and book in your consultation today!
